Last night I began my meditation challenge. I got all comfy in bed, played some nice meditation music (Dream Sleep) and proceeded to create the place I would go during my meditation journeys. I was pleasantly surprised to be joined by a fox. I was surprised because my animal totem is usually a doe. I looked up what a fox represents this morning and it actually made sense. The fox appears when there is "a need to develop or when seeking camouflage". (Andrews, 271, Animal Speak)
He helped me create my sacred space and understand why I choose certain images to appear. I sat on a white beach covered in fine sand, right on the edge of endless water gently waving. It was night and there were several moons in the sky, along with Saturn, my namesake. Behind me was a cliff and on top of the cliff was an image of something I need to deal with, a fear if you will. The fox told me to ignore the cliff for the night, it's something we'll go back to. For the night he just wanted me to focus on the waves and make the space as real as possible.
I found the experience both relaxing as well as exciting. I often had a difficult time focusing because I wanted to explore the space. The fox told me to be patient, and his guidence helped a bit. Near the end, a Goddess of pure love came and wrapped her arms around me. I was filled with peace for a brief moment. I came back to reality shortly after and knew that was enough for my first night. Looking at the clock, I had spent almost and hour there. (It seemed closer to ten minutes)
I'm looking forward to returning tonight and learning more.

Holy crap! That's AWESOME! My first night was more along the lines of getting too distracted with the music I'd put on and being too tired by the time I was ready to go to sleep to actually get into it. I got grounded and centered, felt some of the energy stirring, but then I was so tired I just laid down and passed out.
Just so you know, my totem is a red fox.
